Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has stressed the need for Ghana to actively integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into its development agenda to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.

Speaking through Dr. Collins Yeboah-Afari, Director General of the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, at the opening of the maiden Ghana AI Summit and Awards in Accra, the Minister noted that AI’s impact depends on how it is shaped.
“AI is a reality, but its impact depends on how we shape it. If we take a passive approach, AI will remain a tool of the privileged few. But if we actively integrate AI into our development agenda, it will become a force for inclusive and sustainable growth,” he stated.
He urged collaboration between government, the private sector, academia, and civil society to ensure AI serves the people of Ghana, rather than becoming just another buzzword.

“Let this summit be a call to action. Let’s collaborate—government, private sector, academia, and civil society—to ensure AI serves the people of Ghana so together we can turn AI from a buzzword into a transformative reality,” he added.
The Ghana AI Summit and Awards aimed to drive conversations on the role of AI in national development and recognize outstanding contributions in the sector.
